My favorite quote is one by Abraham Lincoln: "the best way to predict the future is to create it", because it reminds you that you control your future. All your actions will affect your future in some way. One of the things I want in the future is for people to understand that little efforts go a long way. Community service is one of the best ways that people can help someone else, even indirectly. Giving back to the community you live in is one way you can help shape the future. There are many purposeful organizations made solely made for helping. Although I understand that my actions are small and cannot change the mind of many people, I hope a domino effect can occur. Maybe one person will decide to help more which can cause others to follow. Community service has become a big part of my life and below are a few pictures of things that I have done.
At MedFest, HOSA helped give special education students from different schools their physicals.
Light the Night Walk is an event HOSA does every year. We come in support of survivors and in memory of our coordinator's father.
HOSA always does a fall and spring blood drive. This picture is from our fall one. The van always comes to give us more space and take more blood!
Operation Holiday is my personal project that helps send gifts to children in third world countries.
This is an example of how the box looks like for Operation Holiday.
Beta Club dedicated a day to work in Jenny's Garden. This garden is a place for remembrance of alumni that passed away too soon.
As part of the Jenny's Garden day, we planted new flowers, placed new mulch for a clear pathway, and cleaned each alumni's tile.
As part of HOSA week, we made a faculty breakfast. Typically it is called a teacher breakfast but we wanted everyone to know that they are welcomed. The janitors teachers, and SRO officer came!
